Waw an Namus (Oasis of Mosquitoes) is an extinct volcanic field in the Fezzan region of southern Libya, near the geographic center of the Sahara Desert. The cone and caldera of dark basalt are clearly visible from space.

There are reed-filled pools in its crater with no cultivation or habitation, however the site is becoming a tourist attraction.

Wrangell Volcanic Field stretches from eastern Alaska in the United States to the southwestern Yukon Territory in Canada.

Four of the highest volcanoes in the US: Mount Bona, Mount Blackburn, Mount Sanford, and Mount Churchill, as well as the massive Mount Wrangell, are in the field.

Yasur/Yasu is an active volcano on Tanna Island, Vanuatu, an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean.

Captain John Cook was apparently attracted to the island by the glow of the volcano in 1774.
