They received a 1943 Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film for their “Cavalcade of Dance with Veloz and Yolanda”.

Choreographer, modern dancer and instructor Charles Weidman, worked to create a unique style of movement rejecting ballet movement and emphasizing the movement created by the natural law of gravity.
He broke away from his first dance studio, the DenisShawn Studio, and formed a dance company with Doris Humphrey.
