Frederic Chopin was a 19th Century Romantic composer and pianist of Polish and French ancestry.
Considered a child prodigy Chopin left Poland at the age twenty due to political uprising and was one of the many Polish expatriates of the "Great Emigration”; other notable expatriate Poles were Joseph Conrad (1857-1924), Marie Curie (1867-1934), and Guillaume Apollinaire (1880-1918).
Chopin and feminist author known as George Sand had a notable ten year relationship that ended before his death.
