Rin-Tin-Tin

In World War I AEF Corporal Lee Duncan, stationed in France, rescues a mother dog and her three German Shepherd puppies. He keeps his favorite puppy, which he names Rin Tin Tin, and trains him to take first aid to soldiers on the battlefield.

After the Great War is over, Rin Tin Tin goes back to the U.S. with Duncan, eventually starring in 14 feature films from 1920 - 1931 and was considered to be one of Hollywood's top movie stars.

Rover & the Baby

Rescued by Rover, a short silent film released in 1905 was the first film to feature the British film pioneer Cecil Hepworth's family dog, a collie named ‘Blair’. The dog became a household name and he is considered to be the first dog film star; the name ‘Rover’ became a popular name for dogs.

The Rusty films were a series of eight children's movies made in the 1940s. Considered “B” movies, the films were about a group of young children and their German shepherd dog named Rusty, that subtly promoted positive values on social issues of the era.

The part of Rusty was played by several different dogs - once by ‘Ace the Wonder Dog’ and four times by a dog named ‘Flame’.
