The Republic of Paraguay is a landlocked country in central South America, bordering Bolivia to the northwest, Brazil on the northeast, and Argentina on the south and southwest. Asunción is the capital and largest city of Paraguay.

The name Paraguay, meaning “water goes to the ocean”, is in Guarani, a language spoken in Argentina, Bolivia, southwestern Brazil and Paraguay. Guarani and Spanish are the official languages of Paraguay.
