Reproduction of a broadside published by the War Department on April 20th, 1865 for the capture of the assassins of Abraham Lincoln. A reward of $50,000 is offered for John Wilkes Booth and $25,000 apiece for his accomplices - John H. Surratt and David C. Herold, were the equivalents of millions of dollars in today's money. The Secretary of War, Edwin M. Stanton, proclaims in the text: “Let the stain of innocent blood be removed from the land by the arrest and punishment of the murderers”.
