Johann Pachelbel was a Baroque composer of sacred and secular music, organist, and teacher. His most remembered work today is Canon in D major, which is now one of the most recognized and famous baroque compositions.
Niccolo Paganini, one of the most celebrated violin virtuosi of his time, composed a series of sonatas, caprices, six violin concerti, string quartets, and numerous guitar pieces.
Giovanni Paisiello, whose musical training was brought about because of his beautiful singing voice, became a composer of over 80 operas of the classical period. Paisiello suffered from jealousy, worrying himself sick. His masterpiece, Il barbiere di Siviglia, written while he was in the court of Catherine the Great, attained a European reputation - and the attention of Rossini who set a revised libretto to music, now known as the Barber of Seville. And Beethoven created a series of variations on on one of Paisiello's melodies.
