Soprano Giuditta Pasta is considered among the greatest of opera singers. She created the title role in Gaetano Donizetti's Anna Bolena and Amina in Vincenzo Bellini's La sonnambula and Norma.

Pasta was also a teacher.

Adelina Patti, one of the most celebrated opera sopranos of the 19th century, was the child of opera singers. She began singing professionally at age 16 and had a forty year career.

Singer Patti Lupone, star of the stage musical “Evita”, is a great-grand niece and namesake.

FYI ~ Opera soprano Sissieretta Jones was known as the “Black Patti” in reference to the Italian singer Adelina Patti.
