Hair, The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, a reflection of the hippie counter-culture of the 1960s, opened on Broadway in April 1968, running for 1,750 performances.

Hello Dolly!, starred actress and singer Carol Channing playing the part of a meddlesome widow bringing romance to several couples, and herself. Hello Dolly! was first produced on Broadway in 1964 and won the Tony Award for Best Musical and nine other Tonys with the show album Hello, Dolly! An Original Cast Recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. Gower Champion was the director/choreographer.

The plot is very similar to a 1891 musical comedy called A Trip to Chinatown that was made into a silent movie featuring Anna May Wong in 1926.

Hellzapoppin', a comedy musical revue ran for 1,404 performances between September 1938 and December 17, 1941.

The show script was constantly rewritten to keep it current with the news of the day - for instance including a character of Hitler speaking with a Yiddish accent.
