Wallace K. Harrison

Wallace K. Harrison is noted for his work on the United Nations headquarters, heading up an international all-star team of architects who created a dramatic and functional design as the ultimate realization of the International Style.
Harrison also worked on the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Fish Church in Stamford, CT, and the central modernistic structures known as the Trylon and Perisphere for the 1939-1940 New York World's Fair.
Harrison was partners with Max Abramovitz.

Baron Haussmann

Georges-Eugène Haussmann, know as Baron Haussmann, was a civic planner closely associated with the rebuilding of Paris which encompassed all aspects of urban planning - streets and boulevards, regulations about facades, parks, sewers, city facilities and public monuments.
Haussmann gave Paris its current long, wide and straight boulevards cutting through the dense tangle of alleyways that represented the ancient roots of the city.
