Arnolfo di Cambio

Sculptor Arnolfo di Cambio was in charge of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore of the Cathedral of Florence (Filippo Brunelleschi engineered the famous dome).
Giorgio Vasari included a biography of Arnolfo in his The Lives of the Artists.
Di Cambio is also credited with the design of the Church of Santa Croce.

Chevel's Le Palais Ideal (the “Ideal Palace”), regarded as an “extraordinary example of naive art architecture”, was built over a period of 33 years by a postman who was inspired by the shape of a stone he tripped over.

Mary Colter

Mary Colter was responsible for 21 projects of the Fred Harvey Company (Harvey House and Harvy Girls) along the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe train route and resorts across the American southwest.
The Desert View Watchtower is a 70' stone building on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The tower and other Colter buildings (including Hopi House, Hermit's Rest and Lookout Studio) were listed as a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier, born Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, was an architect, designer, urban planner, furniture designer, writer and painter, dedicated to providing better living conditions for the residents of crowded cities.
Le Corbusier, who is most known for his contributions to Modern Architecture (Walter Gropius and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe), attended a kindergarten that used materials created by educator Friedrich Froebel.

Lucio Costa

d. 6-13-1998; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Lucio Costa, best known for his urban plan for the new Brazilian capital of Brasília. His plan called for residents to live in wooded areas with leisure structure (the “superquadras”) flanked by small commercial areas, bookstores and cafés. Unfortunatedly considerable poverty surrounds what some call a “fantasy island.”
