Color is the perception of the different wavelengths of light. The organ of perception for humans is the eye. Chromatics is a broad term for the science of color that include the fields of art color theory- a basic set of rules for mixing pigments, and the physics of light - the electromagnetic spectrum. Philipp Otto Runge

d. 12-2-1810
Philipp Otto Runge was a Romantic German painter and draughtsman who developed the concept of a color sphere with the goal of establishing a complete world of colors resulting from mixture of the three primaries, among themselves and together with white and black.
FYI - Runge was deeply mystical, having read Jakob Boehme, and considered red, blue and yellow to represent the Christian trinity. He was also friends with Goethe.

Expressionist painter Johannes Itten was also a teacher associated with the Weimar Bauhaus from 1919-1922.
