Jean-Martin Charcot was a physician whose work “influenced the developing fields of neurology and psychology”. Charot's research described the different functions of the brain, the disease multiple sclerosis, and the how arteries behave in cerebral hemorrhages. Charcot was a notable teacher, attracting students (among them Sigmund Freud, Pierre Janet, and Alfred Binet) from many nations to his classes at the Salpetriere Teaching Hospital in Paris.
Charcot renamed paralysis agitans (shaking palsy) to Parkinson's Disease on behalf of James Parkinson.
