Sir Isaac Newton
b. 12-25-1642; Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England
d. 3-20-1727; London
Considered as one of the greatest scientists of all time, Issac Newton was a physicist, mathematician and astronomer. His laws of motion and theory of gravitation are cornerstones of modern physics, unifying many observed phenomena into systems known as the Laws of Motion, Gravity, and Mechanics. Newton evolved calculus from algebra and geometry (coincidently with Leibniz), and found that white light is composed of many colors.
Isaac Newton also served as Master of the Mint, a member of Parliment, and president of the Royal Society.

Isaac Newton quotes ~
• “If I have ever made any valuable discoveries it has been owing more to patient attention than to any other talent.”
• “I was like a boy playing on the sea-shore, and diverting myself now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.”
• Newton's first law of motion - “the law of inertia”, an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
• Newton's second law of motion - Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object).
• Newton's third law of motion - For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action.
• “Nature and nature's laws lay hid in night;
God said ‘Let Newton be’ and all was light.”
Epitaph for Isaac Newton
by English Poet Alexander Pope
ISAAC NEWTON BOOKS, VIDEO, AUDIO
The Principia : Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy by Sir Isaac Newton - Monumental 1687 work known as the Principia, Isaac Newton laid out in mathematicanl terms the principles of time, force, and motion that have guided the development of modern physical science.
Opticks: Or a Treatise of the Reflections, Refractions, Inflections & Colours of Light-Based on the Fourth Edition London, 1730 - First published in 1704, Newton describes his famous experiments with spectroscopy and colors in rainbows and soap bubbles, lenses, reflection and diffraction of light.
The Life of Isaac Newton by Richard S. Westfall - One of the greatest scientists in history, Isaac Newton's achievements in mathematics and physics marked the culmination of the movement that brought modern science into being. Richard Westfall's biography captures in engaging detail both his private life and scientific career, presenting a complex picture of Newton the man, and as scientist, philosopher, theologian, alchemist and public figure. An abridged version of his Never at Rest, this concise biography makes Westfall's highly acclaimed portrait of Newton accessible to general readers. (book description)
The Isaac Newton School of Driving : Physics and Your Car by Barry Parker
- For some people, driving is an art; for others, it's a science. At the Isaac Newton School of Driving, though, every car is a laboratory on wheels and every drive an exciting journey into the world of physics. As explained by renowned science writer and physics professor Barry Parker -- whose father was a car mechanic and garage owner -- almost every aspect of driving involves physics. A car's performance and handling relies on fundamental concepts such as force, momentum, and energy. Its ignition system depends on the principles of electricity and magnetism. Braking relies on friction -- yet another basic scientific concept -- and if the brakes fail, the resulting damage, too, can be predicted using physics. (book description)
