Justine Johnstone was a stage and silent screen actress, and Follies girl. After her retirement from the stage, and a divorce, she attended Columbia University becoming a pathologist. As Dr. Wenger she was an expert on syphilis and part of the team that developed the modern intravenous drip technique.
Johnstone attended the Emma Willard School in Troy, NY; other notable students at the school included Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

Rita Jolivet, a silent screen star, was one the survivors of the RMS Lusitania in 1915, an event responsible for bringing the US into World War I.
Jolivet supported the Allied war effort by selling Liberty Bonds: it was reported that she sold more than $5,000,000 worth of bonds in a single week in Baltimore, MD, and outsold Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., Charlie Chaplin, and Mary Pickford combined.

Actress Dorothea Jordan, known as Mrs. Jordan for the stage (there was no Mr. Jordan), was a courtesan and mistress companion of the future King William IV of the United Kingdom, while he was Duke of Clarence, for 20 years. They had at least ten children, all illegitimate - the heir to the throne was his young niece, Victoria.

Frances Anne Kemble
b. 11-27-1809; London, England
d. 1893; England
Frances Anne Kemble was an actress and writer; her aunt was the notable tragedienne Sarah Siddons.
Kemble married American Pierce Butler in 1834. He later inherited a plantation with slaves and they spent the winter of 1838-39 on Sea Island, Georgia. Kemble was shocked by the conditions of the slaves and their treatment and she tried to better their conditions and complained to her husband about slavery. Tensions developed in the marriage and they divorced in 1849, with Butler keeping custody of the two daughters until they came of age.
She returned to the stage in 1847 in order to support herself and was reunited with her daughters when they turned 21. The eldest daughter married a doctor named Owen Jones Wister and they were the parents of Owen Wister, the author of the 1902 western novel, The Virginian.
