Annie Kenney, born into a working class family, worked in a mill where she was paid less than men for the dangerous work (she lost a finger). Kinney, along with Christabel Pankhurst, heckled Winston Churchill in 1905, demanding to know his position on “Votes for Women.”

Two of Kenney's sisters became Montessori teachers.
