Delhi, on the banks of the River Yamuna in northern India, has been continueous occupied since the 6th century BC.

With a population of over 15.9 million residents (2007), Delhi is the second most populous city in India and the eighth largest metropolis in the world by population.

Delphi, both an archaeological site and a modern town in Greece, is located on the south-western spur of Mount Parnassus in the valley of Phocis.

Delphi was the site of the Delphic oracle, the most important oracle in the classical Greek world, and a major site for the worship of the god Apollo after he slew the Python, a dragon who lived there and protected the navel of the Earth.

Denver, the capital and the most populous city of the U.S. state of Colorado, is located in the South Platte River Valley on the western edge of the High Plains just east of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Due to its altitude of 5,130-5,680 ft, Denver is known as the “Mile High City.”

Denver's historic roots are as a mining town in the Pike's Peak Gold Rush of 1859 (Pike's Peak or Bust!). The city was named for the govenor of the Kansas Territory, James W. Denver.

Detroit, the largest city in the state of Michigan, was founded on July 24, 1701, by the French explorer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac.

Detroit, a center of automotive technology beginning with Henry Ford, has the nicknames of “The Motor City” and “Motown”.

Located on the lower reaches of the Ganges Delta, on flat land near sea level, makes Dhaka susceptible to flooding during the monsoon season.

Djenne is located in the inland Niger Delta region of central Mali. Along with neighboring Timbuktu, Djenne was on the trans-Saharan trade route that flourished until the Portuguese opened trading posts on the coast.

Djenne is noted for both its distinctive mud-brick, or adobe, architecture and for the annual flooding of the Niger River that turn the city into an island.
