Orange, associated with energy, enthusiasm, and a get-it-done attitude, is a highly visible color, used on objects that need to be seen, like life preservers. Orange is also associated with autumn and harvest.

In a subtractive color system Orange is a secondary color from the mixture of the primary Red and Yellow. Orange pigment + White pigment produces tints of lighter oranges; Orange mixed with Black pigment results in darker shades that appear grayish brown. Orange + primary Red pigment results in tertiary color reddish orange; Orange + Yellow = yellowish oranges. Orange + primary Blue (complimentary colors) = shades of hues from a orangish browns to bluish grays.
