Achille Mauzan is best remembered as a decorative illustrator during the Art Deco movement. Mauzan designed over 2,000 posters including a variation of the Lord Kitchener recruiting poster (think Uncle Sam).

Robert McCloskey wrote and illustrated eight children's books, two of which won the Caldecott Medal. One of the winners Make Way for Ducklings (1942) was named the official children's book of Massachusetts in 2003. The Library of Congress named him a Living Legend in 2000.

McCloskey married Peggy Durand, the daughter of noted children's author and storyteller Ruth Sawyer.

Howard Miller created the “We Can Do It” poster series for the Westinghouse War Production Co-Ordinating Committee, based the image on a United Press International (UPI) picture of Geraldine Doyle working at a factory. The attachment to Rosie Riveter came later because of the popular WW II song and Norman Rockwell's painting of Rosie.

Alphonse Mucha was the Art Nouveau poster artist and illustrator of magazine covers and advertisement. Mucha is noted for his Art Nouveau style theatre posters of such notable actresses as Sarah Bernhardt.
