Dallol is a ‘maar’ or broad, low-relief volcanic craters in the Danakil Depression, northeast of the Erta Ale Range in Ethiopia. Formed during a 1926 phreatic eruption (when rising magma makes contact with ground or surface water), numerous other similar craters are in the area. These craters are over 45 m (150 ft) below sea level, the lowest known subaerial volcanic vents in the world.
The term Dallol (coined by the Afar people) means dissolution or disintegration describing a landscape made up of acid ponds (pH-values around 2) iron oxide, sulfur and salt desert plains. The Danakil Depression resembles the hot springs areas of Yellowstone Park.

The Deccan Plateau of India is the result of enormous floods of lava breaking through Earth's crust towards the end of the Cretaceous period, between 67 and 65 million years ago.
The eruption is called the Deccan Traps - Deccan is from the Sanskrit word meaning south, and in geology the term “trap”, derived from the Swedish word for stairs, describing the step-like hills topography of part of the Plateau.
The mineral rich Plateau has areas of mica, iron, gold, and diamonds.

Devils Tower, a monolithic volcanic neck or igneous intrusion in the Black Hills in north eastern Wyoming, is an iconic image from the 1977 movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Local Native American tribes have similar creation stories about the landmark - seven little girls are out picking berries when giant bears begin to chase them, the Great Spirit saves them by raising the ground beneath their feet, the bears try to climb the rock and leave the vertical grooves.
It was the first declared national monument in the US.
FYI - Devils is the correct spelling, with out the '.
